Customers often wonder, "How can I make kettle corn? Do I need a specific type of kettle to make it? Is there a special type of sugar you need to use to make it?

We thought we would take some time to let you know some of these answers and show you some of the machines you can use to make kettle corn.

Many have associated kettle corn with big giant kettles and someone stirring the corn around as it pops. But the truth is that you can do kettle corn in any Gold Medal popcorn popper if you use our #2538 Pop-N-Glaze™ Sweet Corn Mix. Pop-N-Glaze™ can be used in any kettle, and it coats the corn with a clear, sugary glaze. Just add 3 oz. of glaze for 6-oz. kettles to get that tasty, sweet crunch!

We also offer the Salt/Sweet Switch option on our larger kettles, which lowers the kettle temperature by about 40°. It helps the batch cook better and the sugar won't burn due to the large volume of sugar that you're adding to the kettle. Add 24 oz. of glaze in a 48-oz kettle—this is where the lower kettle temperature of the Salt/Sweet Switch helps.

The poppers labeled "Kettle Corn" are all made with this 40°-45° lower temperature already programmed. It's best to use the Pappy's Mix from Gold Medal in these machines.Give your profits a boost with the great taste of Kettle Corn, and Gold Medal has all of the ingredients for success. Let your customers take a trip down memory lane with this old fashioned treat. Check out our equipment and supplies below.Directions:

Add the oil and the corn to the kettle.

Wait about 45 seconds to 1 minute, and then add the Pappy's Mix in the ratio of 2/3 Pappy's Mix to 1 part corn. For example, in an 8-oz. kettle you would use 8 oz. of corn and about 5 to 5.5 oz. of Pappy's Mix.

Once it's finished popping, dump the kettle and lightly salt the corn.

Keep in mind, the color of the oil will tint your kettle corn. If you're looking for yellow finish you can use our Portion Pack Kits. Or, if you would like a lighter color, use our White Coconut Oil Kits.

If you use regular Flavocol®, it contains yellow coloring. Therefore, do not add the salt into the kettle if you want a lighter color kettle corn. Instead, use our fine nut and popcorn salt and sprinkle it on right after you dump the batch. The sugar coating will still be hot enough for the salt to stick to it.

So if you already have a Gold Medal popper or are looking to purchase a "Kettle Corn" specific machine, Gold Medal can get you popping in no time!
